Work from home careers:

Work at home parents have their cake AND eat it!

They get to stay at home with their children, but make a living as well!

It can be an extremely rewarding to work from your home and enjoy being with your children, but there can be some disadvantages as well.

Work at home dads or moms, before you decide to work from home there are some things to consider:

  • It can be really tricky juggling child care and work.
  • Will your work require hours and hours of your time? If so, your child will miss out, or you will become highly stressed trying to do two jobs and ending up doing both badly.
  • Will your work require you to travel about? Again, this is not desirable unless you have a child who loves the car, or who sleeps a lot!
  • Do you enjoy time away from your child? Many people value having a job, either part-time or full-time, not just for the money, but also for adult company and stimulation.
  • Most importantly, if you choose to work at home AND look after your kids, you must acknowledge that you are doing two demanding jobs. Who will do the housework? Are you capable of doing 3 jobs? Few of us are! Will you have enough time to do this as well, or will you generate enough work from home income to pay for help?

If you have thought things through and are convinced that if being at work from home dad or mom is for you, the next step will be to think of what to do. Read these pages to find some ideas, and what I did to generate a good income working from home!
