From Two to Three years.

tantrum

Toddlers of two to three years can understand more language and are often happy to 'help' and do jobs, particularly if you do them together.

It is the famous 'terrible twos' time as well, however, and you could be facing your first tantrums. A two year olds tantrum (and onwards!) will alarm your child as much as you, and it will be how you react to them which will determine how frequently they come after that. If you are able to remain calm and show no interest, only responding to your child when the tantrum is over, they are likely to be less frequent.

At about 2 1/2 years, it's normal for children to become bossy and moody. At this age, they often find it hard to fit into a group and may not be able to co-operate with other children. They rarely enjoy sharing their toys, and disputes can often erupt when friends are visiting. This can be embarrassing, particularly if the other child is being angelic at the time! A quick solution in this situation is to remove the toy altogether and try to encourage a game with something else.

If your child bites another give all your attention to the bitten child.
Remove the biter straight away and put the child somewhere he/she is safe but alone for a few minutes. This is not unusual for the two to three year olds.

It is very important, at whatever age, to try to stick to your convictions and methods regardless of who is with you at the time. Many people will be quick to judge and it is difficult, in the face of disapproval, to discipline your child as you normally would. Try to remember that you are the parent, you know your child better than anyone. Be prepared to remove your child (and yourself) for however long is necessary to restore calm.
