Be a strict parent. Let your 'No' be 'No!'
Give your child clear boundaries. When dealing with difficult children or behavior, be a strict parent. Take a firm stand. If you say "no" to your child, make sure you both understand what that means and keep to the house rule. Your child wants to know that you mean no and will challenge it to see how firm your resolve is.
Children often ask 'why?'. There is no harm in explaining the reason to your child but don't be caught in the trap of explaining all your reasons over and over again. Instead the answer 'because that is our rule' should cover most things!
