Potty training problems for working parents:

Some working parents will have trouble remaining consistent as they are not always with their child.

Make sure the person who cares for your child during the day is aware you are potty training.

Discuss with them what methods you intend to use. Listen to their advice too, as they will need to be happy with the method if they are to use it while your child is with them.

Some nurseries will not accept children unless they have been potty trained. If this is the case you may find yourself having to start whether your child is ready or not.

Don't panic! Just do your best, following the advice in potty training techniques. Give yourself as long as possible before your child is due to start at the nursery to ensure that your child has had at least some success.

Nurseries are used to children having accidents. Many children actually perform better as a result of seeing other children using the potty, so as long as your toddler is used to wearing normal pants and sitting on the potty, they should be ok.



Other problems:

Most children will not be reliably potty trained straight away. It takes time and patience, and a sense of humor to get you through!

You may find that you regret starting the training, that your child is not responding as you had hoped. This is quite common but it can lead to Potty training resistance.

Maybe your child seemed to have learned to use the potty very quickly, but then, a few weeks later, starts having lots of potty training accidents.
