Free behavior charts to print off!

These free behavior charts can be helpful for your children and for you to have a record of their challenging behavior. Both you and your children will quickly forget the good and the bad behavior in the week. Keeping a record is particularly helpful to children with adhd, who need constant reminders of appropriate behavior.

Set one or two targets at a time for toddlers and younger children to achieve, 3 or 4 for older children. Each time they achieve their target they can add a sticker to the behavior modification chart.

Plan a reward with your child to work towards, such as a special outing at the weekend, a meal out, a friend round to play, extra pocket money or anything else which will motivate your child. For very young children, you might want to give a small reward at the end of each day - a week can seem a very long time!

If your child is successful with their sticker behavior charts then you can enjoy the reward together. If they don't, there is no need to punish, as not receiving the treat is enough. They can try again next week!

Make it fun for your child. Make a big fuss about the achievements and let it be your child who puts a sticker on the behavior chart. Tell all the family members about their achievement, in front of your child.

Some children will respond straight away to this method, others may take longer. Persevere and you will find your child's behavior does improve in the end.

One thing that has worked wonderfully well for us, along side the behavior chart, is the Better Behavior Wheel This is a device which takes away the need to punish your child. We found that this really helped maintain a good relationship with our children which can be tricky is they are constantly in trouble. It really worked miracles on the worst of the behavior!

Children at different ages require different styles of printable behavior charts. You are welcome to download these free behavior modification charts to use with your children.
