Food recipe toddler: Here are a few recipes that our children always loved. They are quick, easy and nutritious.

Pizza base



Food recipe toddler for babies and toddlers over 1 year old.

Ingredients:

75 g (3oz) wholemeal flour
75 g (3oz) plain flour
pinch of salt
5ml (1tsp) baking powder
40 g (11/2 oz) unsalted butter
45ml (3 tbsp) milk
15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
1 egg
15 g (1tbsp) Parmesan cheese


Topping 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
7.5 ml (1/2 tbsp) olive oil
45 ml (3 tbsp) tomato puree
2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) dried oregano
75 g (3 oz) Mozzarella cheese
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
2 tablespoons Parmesan grated
knob of butter

Method:

Lightly fry the onions in the olive oil until softened. Sift together the flours, salt and baking powder. Rub in the butter with your fingers until the mixture resemble breadcrumbs. Whisk together the milk, oil and egg. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and mix in the milk mixture to form a dough. Gradually work the grated Parmesan cheese into the dough. Turn the dough on to a lightly floured board, and roll out into a circle about 25 cm (10 inches) in diameter. Lay this on a large, greased preheated baking sheet. Alternatively, press the dough down into a greased 25 cm flan tin. If you prefer, quarter the dough and roll out to make four individual pizzas.

To prepare the topping, add the tomato puree to the fried onion, stir in the oregano and simmer for a few minutes. Spread this over the pizza base and cover with the grated Mozzarella cheese. Arrange the slicced tomato on top. Sprinkle over the Parmesan cheese and dot with butter. Bake in an oven preheated to 180¼C/350¼F/Gas 4 for 25-30 minutes

You can add your child?s favourite toppings before baking. How about trying sliced mushrooms, stips of red pepper, pinapple chunks, peperone, ham or tuna. Grill or lightly fry the vegetables before using them.

Share the cooking with your children and allow them to design their own pizza topping!


Healthy hamburgers:

450 g (1 lb) lean minced beef
1/2 onion, grated
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and grated
1/2 chicken stock cube, crumbled
2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
15 m (1 tbsp) cold water


Combine tgether all the hamburger ingredients except for the oil. Form into about 12 small hamburgers, dot with a little margarine or butter and grill, turning halfway, until cooked through. Ideal on a barbecue!

These can be served with some chipped potatoes and salad vegetables, or in bread baps. Add some low sugar ketchup if your child likes it, or mayonnaise.
