Be consistent and establish a routine.
Establish a routine and be clear and consistent. As well as clear house rules, a routine helps a child feel safe and secure.
This is particularly important during children's holidays. Holidays are notoriously un-planned. Most adults like that aspect, they can decide to do things on impulse. Children don't have that ability. Young children in particular need to know what is happening and when.
If this is not possible try to make sure your child knows exactly what is going to happen throughout the day, explaining in the morning, and reminding them at different steps what is going to happen next.
If you are able to give them some choice this will allow them to feel they do have some control over their lives.
A
baby sleep routine, as well as for older children, is equally important. This will help your baby or child unwind and relax, making bedtime tears less frequent. A
relaxing bedtime routine, involving a bath, a warm drink, a cuddle and a read together will help your child get off to sleep feeling cosy and secure.
