Erectile Dysfunction in Teenagers

Erectile dysfunction in teenagers: This is generally more common in older men, but can occasionally happen in younger men and teenage boys.

Generally, failure to gain or maintain an erection, is caused by stress or anxiety. If the problem is physical rather than emotional, then it could be due to poor circulation.

At the same time, teenage boys also can find that an erection happens, for no apparent reason, at an embarrassing time. This can increase the anxiety that something is wrong.

If there is a sympathetic older male figure in your son's life, talking to him may be enough to reassure him that embarrassing erections, or lack of, have happened to most men at some point in their lives. They may also be able to talk freely about wet dreams and masturbation, and reassure your son that he is normal.

Either way, if it is a concern, it is important for your son to consult a doctor, if for nothing else but to reassure him that things will return to normal once he is able to relax.
